About Us

WEF is a thriving independent evangelical church in the centre of the village of Waverton, 4 miles east of Chester.  We are affiliated to the Evangelical Alliance.  The church started in the 1970s when several families felt it was right to begin an evangelical ministry in the village rather than travel into Chester.

In the early 1980s a redundant  Presbyterian church building in the centre of the village was for sale, the founding families felt it was right to buy the building and make it suitable for modern worship and mid-week activities. The Fellowship has been blessed with expansion and spiritual growth. We are currently in the process of appointing a new full-time pastor and we have two other full time workers, Jon Hosker our full-time children's and families' worker  and Darren Gerrish our full-time youth worker.

We have a wide family base with an age range of 0 to 95.  Membership currently stands at 94 with a good cross section of ages. Young people play a significant part in the fellowship’s life and worship.

Sunday morning worshipThe Sunday morning congregation is usually around 100.

We are gifted with numerous musicians and three music worship leaders who choose the composition of the band as appropriate.

We meet for worship on a Sunday at 10.30 am (there is usually a créche, a Sunday Club for children and a Lazer group for the 12-16 age range.(These last for about half the service time).  If you plan to join us on a Sunday morning, see the 'Find Us' page for details of car parking.    We also meet at 6.30 pm. for a more reflective time of worship.
