Waverton Evangelical Fellowship

Rescue, Restore, Release

About Us

We are a thriving independent evangelical church in the centre of the village of Waverton, 4 miles east of Chester.  We are affiliated to the Evangelical Alliance.   The church started in the 1970s when several families felt it was right to begin an evangelical ministry in the village rather than travel into Chester.

In the early 1980s a redundant  Presbyterian church building in the centre of the village was for sale, the founding families felt it was right to buy the building and make it suitable for modern worship and mid-week activities. The Fellowship has been blessed with expansion and spiritual growth. We now have a full-time pastor (Revd Chris Mellor), a full-time children's and families' worker (Jon Hosker) and a full-time youth worker (Darren Gerrish). In 2004 we built an annexe to provide for the growth in activities.

We have a wide family base with an age range of 0 to 95.  Membership currently stands at 94 with a good cross section of ages. Young people play a significant part in the fellowship’s life and worship.

Sunday morning worshipThe Sunday morning congregation is usually around 100.
