About Us

Waverton Evangelical Fellowship is a thriving independent Christian church in the centre of the village of Waverton, about 4 miles east of Chester. Being an independent church means that we are not affiliated to any particular denomination, but we are members of the Evangelical Alliance, an organisation that represents thousands of churches across the country.

The church started in the 1970s when several families felt it was right to begin an evangelical ministry in the village rather than travel into Chester.

In the early 1980s a redundant Presbyterian church building in the centre of the village was for sale and the founding families felt it was right to buy the building and make it suitable for modern worship and mid-week activities.

The Fellowship has subsequently been blessed with expansion and spiritual growth. We are currently in the process of appointing a new full-time pastor and we have two other full-time workers, Jon Hosker our full-time children's and families' worker and Darren Gerrish our full-time youth worker.

The church currently has a membership of around 95 and Sunday morning services are attended by about 100 people, from the very young to the ………... not so young!

You can find out more about what happens on a Sunday and during the week on our Weekly Activities Page.
