In December 2017 Ian Mackenzie went as part of the team distributing shoe boxes in Easter Europe.

In 2017 we again filled shoeboxes for the charity Teams4U based in Wrexham. This year the charity received almost 40,000 shoeboxes from across the UK.  They have been delivered to children in Romania, Ukraine, Bosnia & Croatia.  Ian Mackenzie went out with the team and was disappointed by the poverty he saw, particularly in Ukraine.  He reports that year on year nothing seems to change. However, he was pleased to say that the boxes brought a lot of smiles to some sad faces.  One (if not the) biggest thing about the shoebox story is that it is a 'possession', the recipient owns it.  It is a personal gift.  Sometimes the contents are not the most important thing.  That is the real Christmas message - a free gift.  To know that someone, somewhere cares enough to do this for me.
